North Judson Town Marshal Kelly Fisher provided Town Council members with a request related to the NJ-SP School Resource Officer Monday evening.
She noted, “Chris Kisela, he has been on our part-time roster for several years now and he is school resourced trained. I’d like to promote him from his part-time position to our full-time school resource officer.”
The Council members granted her request. Kisela began patrolling the halls last Thursday after months of deliberation and coordination between School officials and the Police Department so addressing this formality was the final step to make things official.
Officer Kisela brought his family to the meeting and provided some background information to introduce himself to the Council members and community.
He stated that he served in the Marine Corps for 8 years and noted that he attended Purdue University. Kisela worked for the Knox City Police Department for 13 years prior to resigning and joining NJ-PD full-time.
He was officially sworn in by Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe after the Town Council meeting concluded.
During Tuesday night’s North Judson-San Pierre school board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin commented on Kisela joining the School Corporation.
She explained, “I really feel positive about that. I think his personality and his style match our administration and our community.”
She mentioned that SRO Kisela will meet with her and administrators on Friday to discuss how his first full week went and to provide some input about potential policies that could be implemented to assist with student safety.
Dr. Zupin also noted that Kisela will be at the school board’s next regularly scheduled meeting in February.
