The Winamac Town Council organized for the New Year when members met Monday night.
Officer elections were held and nothing changed from last year, with Tom Murray maintaining his position as President and Jim Watkins retaining the Vice President’s position.
They were also appointed as the Board of Finance President and Vice President, respectively
The council also took action to re-appoint various town officials to their respective positions. As a result, the Town Manager is Brad Zellers, the Town Attorney is Justin Schramm, the Chief of Police/Town Marshal is Mark Hoffman and the Fire Chief is Bill Weaver.
Additionally, Jeremy Beckner will continue to serve as the Water and Street Superintendent and Doug Shorter will retain his position as the Electric Superintendent.
Barry Day was an individual whose title changed from last year to this year. He was serving previously as Wastewater Operator and will now officially be the Wastewater Superintendent.
There was a question about whether or not Day should have to put in some probationary time this year before receiving the official position.
However, it was ultimately decided that he already has the experience and put in the time and will be able to consult with Town Manager Brad Zellers if any questions arise while he’s on the job.
