Changes are coming to Hamlet’s trash pickup. Starting in March, pickup will move from Tuesday mornings to Thursday mornings, according to Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts. The monthly cost will also increase from $11.39 to $12.92 per household, and then up to $13.44 in March of 2021.
It’s part of a new contract with Michiana approved by the town council Wednesday. Pitts says the town’s current contract with the company is up at the end of the month. She explains that the town also got a bid from Republic Services, but its price was $17.37 for the first year of the contract and $18.06 for the second year.
