The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum’s newly-elected president is looking forward to working with the Town of North Judson. Todd Flanigan introduced himself to the town council last week. He explained that he’s been a member of the museum since 1995, served on its board of directors, and also served as president in the past.
Now, he says he wants to keep the museum moving forward and improve communication with the town. “Well, I think that’s where a lot of the problem stemmed from was just, not miscommunication, but a lot of lack of communication, things not getting back to the museum, things not getting back to the town, to the railroad,” Flanigan told council members.
Council President John Rowe noted that there’s time scheduled during every council meeting for an update from the museum and asked if Flanigan could send someone at least once a month, which he seemed open to.
Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe added that there are ways the various groups could work together when it comes to promotion. “With the master plan being recently completed and our comp plan, I know there’s talk of routing traffic through our downtown, and I wouldn’t mind seeing banners or something alluding to trails and rails, two huge things we have,” Rowe said. Flanigan said museum officials have been discussing the possibility of highlighting the trail and the town in its future advertising.
President Rowe felt things like that didn’t happen enough in the past. “It was like a secret society kind of deal,” he said.
Flanigan stressed that he wants to focus on working from today forward, and said he’s excited about the future.
