We may be several weeks into 2020, but the North Judson Town Council is still adding spending permission to the town’s 2019 budget. Almost $124,000 in 2019 additional appropriations was approved during last week’s meeting.
That includes almost $98,000 for the Railroad Capital Improvement/Maintenance budget, just under $24,000 for the Comprehensive Plan, and nearly $2,500 out of Police Public Donations. Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe says that in all of those cases, those expenses were not anticipated when the 2019 budget was put together.
He explains that the additional appropriations were mainly just a formality to make sure the books line up. Those three particular funds are non-reporting funds, but Rowe says that after speaking with Baker Tilly representatives, town officials decided that the additional appropriations process should be followed to ensure the budget is accurate, even if that meant approving them after the fact.
No comments were offered during a public hearing on the additional appropriations.
