Unemployment Rates Up in Starke, Pulaski Counties

Unemployment rates are up in Starke and Pulaski counties. Starke County’s unemployment rate rose to 5.1 percent in January, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That’s up from four percent the month before but down from six percent in January of 2019.

Pulaski County’s January unemployment rate was 4.1 percent, compared to 3.2 percent the month before and 3.8 percent during the same period last year. Both counties saw the actual number of residents employed decrease, as their labor forces have shrunk somewhat.

The state as a whole had a non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.6 percent in January, while the national rate rose to four percent.
