The Pulaski County Commissioners have agreed to a zoning change for a piece of farmland near Medaryville.
The 40-acre parcel at 2597 North 1050 West was changed from General Agriculture to Intensive Agriculture during the commissioners’ first April meeting, at the request of owners Derrick and Abbie Stalbaum. Building Inspector and Plan Administrator Doug Hoover explained that the change brings the property in line with neighboring ones owned by the family. An Intensive Agriculture designation allows for confined feeding operations, among a number of other possible uses.
Hoover said the request got a favorable recommendation from the county’s advisory plan commission. No neighbors voiced any complaints, but it was noted that most of them were relatives.
