Upgrades to Winamac’s wastewater treatment plant are now complete. Town Manager Brad Zellers recently gave an update to the town council.
“The wastewater plant is online,” he told council members. “The ammonia process has started, so it’s going to take a couple weeks to get it going, and then it ought to start working. They’ve got a lot of cleanup and things to do, but other than that, it’s online, so that’s a good thing.”
The ammonia removal system was needed to bring the plant into compliance with environmental requirements. Winamac had gotten a $700,000 grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs to help with part of the cost.
