It’s taking drivers a while to get used to the new stop signs at U.S. 421 and State Road 14. The intersection became a four-way stop a couple weeks ago, following a number of serious crashes.
Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine told the county commissioners Monday that he’s been doing some special enforcement. “We watched a semi just blast right through,” Richwine said. “It didn’t even slow down. Then another pickup truck. I mean, this isn’t a slow roll. This is doing 55 miles an hour, just doesn’t see it, and just blasts right through it.”
Richwine said deputies have written a few tickets, but most traffic stops have just ended with warnings. He felt the four-way stop was a good idea, due to the amount of truck traffic, as well as the proximity to the West Central Schools campus. Richwine hopes to make sure drivers are aware of the change by the time school is back in session.
