A South Bend man faces multiple charges after allegedly driving 100 miles per hour without a license with a loaded firearm in the vehicle. LaPorte County Police say they pulled over a vehicle driven by Ankoma H. Kirk, 20, near U.S. 20 and County Road 350 East, just before 10:00 p.m. Thursday. During the traffic stop, officers say they found a loaded firearm in the passenger compartment.
Kirk is accused of the Level 5 felonies of being a felon in possession of a firearm and obliterating identifying marks on a firearm. He also faces Class C misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and operating while never licensed. Kirk remains in the LaPorte County Jail.
A 20-year-old female passenger is accused of minor consumption of alcohol, but officers say she’s since been released from jail.
