Governor Holcomb says he hasn’t given any thought to changing Indiana’s name, but he is looking into how the state could do a better job of sharing its history.
“I’ve talked with Native American friends of mine about our shared past and our heritage and how we can do a better job – we being myself, this administration – how we can do a better job sharing the story of Indiana, sharing the story of who we are as a people, a very diverse people,” Holcomb said during Wednesday’s COVID-19 press conference.
Holcomb said he’s looking at how Indiana can celebrate its successes, while also acknowledging and dealing with its shortcomings. He promised to speak more on the issue in the near future.
