Just a Few Days Left to Help Starke County Veterans Memorial Project Reach Crowdfunding Goal

With just a few days left in its crowfunding campaign, the new Starke County Veterans Memorial is less than $1,200 away from its new $60,000 goal.

County commissioner and project committee member Kathy Norem told WKVI’s Charlie Adams that the project had already reached the $50,000 needed to get a match from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. “We exceeded that goal this week, and we added a little stretch goal, an extra $10,000 to buy some flags and maybe be able to do something with the cannons,” Norem explained.

The hope is to be able to add granite supports for the historic cannons. Residents have until Tuesday night to make their donations at Patronicity.com.

Norem said the project at the southeast corner of the Starke County Courthouse Square is on-time and on-budget. It’s expected to be complete by Veterans Day.
