The Knox Community School Corporation will have a few new job titles, following some personnel changes finalized by the school board earlier this month.
Most of them are simply adjustments of already-existing positions, rather than additional employees. Former High School Principal Dr. Elizabeth Ratliff was transferred to a newly-named “director of student support services” position at Knox Middle School. The non-administrative position will take over many of the responsibilities formerly held by school counselor Sonia Hensley, who recently left to take over as guidance counselor at Oregon-Davis Junior/Senior High School.
Similarly, the school board appointed Korey Bucher to fill the vacancy in the high school assistant principal position. However, Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart explained that his job title will be “dean of students” until he gets the necessary license. Bucher replaces Scott Frye, who resigned from the assistant principal position before he officially began.
The Knox School Board also finalized the hiring of Head Football Coach Russ Radtke. Rather than also serving as a PE teacher as former coach John Hendryx did, Radtke will serve as the school corporation’s attendance officer and event coordinator. Reichhart says that will include going to the homes of students who are consistently absent, with a big concern being the high school students who aren’t showing up to vocational programs.
The school board also approved “status quo” administrative contracts. Reichhart told board members that any potential salary increases would come later, after the negotiations with teachers are complete.
