Pulaski County Awarded Grant Funding to Launch Family Treatment Court

Pulaski County’s family treatment court is set to launch this fall. Circuit Court Judge Mary Welker recently told the county commissioners that the county has gotten $89,500 in grant funding from the Indiana Office of Court Services.

“The goals are intensive supervision, reunifying families faster so that we can stop that generational child in need of services or welfare type of cases, where a child was and now she’s a mom and that family’s involved and the next family’s involved, all the way down, generations,” Welker explained.

She said the program will not only strengthen Pulaski County’s families but also reduce costs for both the county and the state in the long-run. The family court will be the county’s second problem-solving court, after its veterans treatment court.
