Hamlet Council Agrees to Let Yellowstone Trail Fest Keep $1,000 Donation

The Yellowstone Trail Festival will get to keep the $1,000 it received from the Town of Hamlet, in spite of the event’s cancellation. Town officials held off on handing over this year’s donation until July, to make sure the festival was still happening. But about two weeks later, the event was canceled.

During last week’s town council meeting, Council President Dave Kesvormas said the festival’s president, Larry Jernas, asked him how the town wanted to proceed. “They’re going to try to do something a little later, hopefully, keep the fireworks guys going, and maybe do something once some of the restrictions are lifted,” Kesvormas explained. “I said, either way, it’s ultimately up to the board’s decision whether you want to just let them keep that and not give them anything next year, or let them keep that and add it to next year. It’s whatever you guys want to do.”

Town officials agreed to let the Yellowstone Trail Festival keep the money to use on a fireworks display. If that doesn’t happen, they can keep it for next year’s festival.

The town council also agreed to contribute to the Hamlet Baseball League with a $275 field sponsorship.
