The Knox Board of Works has agreed to withdraw its court case against the owner of 1 & 3 North Main Street. After years of calling for repairs, Director of Building and Code Compliance Kenny Pfost recently told board members that he finally believes the work is substantially complete.
“The main issue was with the fire escape,” Pfost explained. “He has stabilized it, repaired a couple broken areas. It is primed. And then there’s some bricks that need to be replaced on that east wall in the alleyway. Everything is done with that, except for an area right around the electric, just a very small area, and he’s got gravel down back there.”
During last month’s regular board meeting, Pfost also expressed satisfaction with the progress at 804 East Lake Street. He said he initially sent a notice for tall grass, garbage, and other junk back in June of 2019. He eventually tried to work out a timeline with the homeowner, but it didn’t get cleaned up until last month’s public hearing was announced.
