The Knox clerk-treasurer may soon be allowed to pay certain bills before they’re officially approved by the city council.
An ordinance giving the clerk-treasurer that authority will be considered by the city council tonight. It would apply to a number of types of claims, including license and permit fees, state and federal grant program payments, payroll, and tax payments. The city council would then have a chance to confirm those payments at the following meeting.
Tonight’s Knox City Council meeting starts at 7:00 at Knox City Hall.
