The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office has released more details about Tuesday’s three-semi crash on U.S. 30.
Deputies say that around 5:40 p.m., two westbound semi-tractor trailers were waiting at a red light at State Road 39, when a third semi-tractor failed to stop. It reportedly hit the trailer of the second semi, pushing that semi into the first one.
Police say the driver of the third truck, Aleksandar Krnican, 34, of Lyons, Illinois, was pinned in and had to be extricated from the semi-tractor. He was flown to a regional hospital for treatment of an upper body injury.
