Drivers on U.S. 421 are slowly getting used to the new stop signs at State Road 14 near the West Central Schools campus. The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office has been keeping an eye on the intersection since INDOT changed it to a four-way stop back in June.
Sergeant Chris Schramm told the county commissioners Monday that the number of drivers failing to stop has dropped considerably since the change was first made. He said it wasn’t uncommon for police to stop a vehicle every 15 minutes early on. West Central students are scheduled to return to class on Wednesday.
Schramm said the Sheriff’s Office has also been doing saturation patrols on County Road 800 South, due to concerns from the Pulaski County Highway Department about speeding drivers and overweight trucks between U.S. 421 and State Road 39.
