North Judson Town Council Transfers Railroad to Redevelopment Commission

The Town of North Judson continues preparing for the potential sale of its short line railroad. The town council passed a resolution last week to transfer the railroad corridor to the North Judson Redevelopment Commission.

Putting the railroad under the redevelopment commission’s jurisdiction will help with the process of seeking proposals and finding a potential buyer, according to Clerk-Treasurer Andrew Rowe.

The town council and planning commission also approved resolutions officially establishing an economic development area. Rowe says it includes the town’s corporate boundaries, as well as the roughly 30-mile railroad right-of-way.
