The Winamac Town Council has approved a $20,000 upgrade to a piece wastewater equipment. Town Manager Brad Zellers told council members that the vac truck’s jetter pump had stopped working.
“It’s going to be expensive,” he explained. “There’s a couple options. To repair the one that’s on it is like $6,800. To upgrade it with parts, it’s like $13,000. They had an old water pump off one they would put on for like $11,000, which I wouldn’t put a used one on there.”
But in the end, Zellers recommended the most expensive option: getting a brand new pump. “That truck’s going to have to last awhile,” he said. “We’ve spent a lot of money in wastewater, and there’s not going to be a lot to go around to replace that truck for a few years.”
Council members agreed to get a new pump at a cost of $20,000.
