Hamlet’s Starke Street railroad crossing will be closed tomorrow through Monday. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts says the Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern Railroad appears to be planning to do work, but the extent of any repairs isn’t currently known.
For years, the town council has said the rough crossing poses safety concerns, but their efforts to get the railroad to fix it have been largely unsuccessful.
