The North Judson-San Pierre School Board has formalized the process of offering extra payments to teachers with both virtual and in-person classes. During Tuesday’s meeting, Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin explained that while many schools have decided to pay certain teachers more in response to the pandemic, it was never technically agreed upon.
The school board addressed the issue in a memorandum of understanding with the North Judson-San Pierre Classroom Teachers Association. “The only stipend we are giving is to a teacher who is teaching a virtual beyond the classroom, and we only have one,” Zupin said. “We tried to avoid that, but we needed another section, and so this MOU just addresses that and that serves as that official documentation.”
She said the memorandum of understanding was recommended by the Indiana Education Employment Relations Board.
