Two Arrested after Police Report Finding Stolen Handgun during U.S. 30 Traffic Stop

A traffic stop on U.S. 30 reportedly turned up a stolen handgun Saturday night. LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies say they pulled over an eastbound passenger vehicle approaching County Road 700 West for speeding and a traffic infraction.

During the traffic stop, police say they found a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle. They later determined that it had been reported stolen to the Fort Wayne Police Department in 2018.

The driver, Valentino D. Shaw, 43, of Bellwood, Illinois, and the passenger, Delkeyia S. Williams, 25, of Chicago, Illinois, both face a Level 6 felony charge of theft of a firearm. Shaw is also accused of being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm, a Level 4 felony, while Williams faces potential misdemeanor charges of carrying a handgun without a license and possession of marijuana.
