The Knox Community School Corporation’s 2021 budget was adopted by the school board last week.
Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart says the budget was passed with no additional discussion. It totals just over $20 million, with more than $12 million in the Education Fund and almost $5 million in the Operations Fund.
Reichhart says board members also accepted the retirement of Knox Middle School Special Needs Paraprofessional Sharon Belcher. “She started with us in 1994 in the food service department, and she is retiring at the [end of] this year, and that’s 26 years that she’s been with us,” Reichhart notes. “And we have teachers, a lot of times, that put in a number of years, 30 years plus, but it’s uncommon for a para or an aide to put in that much.”
The school board also accepted $250 from the Cheryl Lyn Welter Family Charitable Foundation for the purchase of novels for the high school dual-credit U.S. History class.
