A meth bust at a home a couple doors down from the Hamlet Police Station led to the arrest of the two residents last week. The Starke County Prosecutor’s Office has shared more details about Friday’s drug raid at 7 West Pearl Street.
In a probable cause affidavit, officers say that last Wednesday, they pulled over a vehicle that was leaving the home, and the driver was carrying methamphetamine. And then the next day, they reportedly pulled over a driver who said he was going to the house to buy methamphetamine.
The affidavit says Hamlet and Starke County police got a search warrant and entered the home. There, they say they found a plastic bag with a clear crystal-like substance weighing more than 80 grams that later tested positive for methamphetamine. Other items were allegedly found.
Travis McClurg, 26, and Kelly Gibson, 28, were taken to the Starke County Justice Center. They’re charged with a Level 3 felony count of possession of methamphetamine.
Hamlet Police note that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
