A new facility to help treat those with opioid use disorder was recognized by state and local officials last week. Porter-Starke Services says it opened a new medication-assisted treatment facility in LaPorte back in April and was finally able to host a small, private ribbon-cutting ceremony. Recovery Center LaPorte specializes in methadone services as part of a comprehensive treatment, according to a Porter-Starke press release.
Indiana Executive Director for Drug Prevention, Treatment and Enforcement Douglas Huntsinger took a tour of the facility. He joined representatives from Porter-Starke, the Swanson Center, the Healthcare Foundation of LaPorte, and LaPorte County Commissioners for the ribbon cutting. Huntsinger says the new facility moves the state closer to its goal of having an opioid treatment center within an hour of every Hoosier.
Porter-Starke says the new Recovery Center was made possible by a $488,000 contribution from the Healthcare Foundation of LaPorte, after a study found that there was a need for more access to medication-assisted treatment in the local area.
Recovery Center LaPorte is located at 1230 West State Road 2.
