The two sex offenders who were found to be out of compliance during a recent check by LaPorte County authorities have since been located and arrested. Earlier this month, various agencies teamed up for Operation Scare and Beware, a pre-Halloween compliance sweep of all 104 sexually violent predators and offenders against children in LaPorte County.
The Sheriff’s Office says arrest warrants were issued for Ladonna M. Lowhorn, 39, and Jose F. Thomas, 47. They’re accused of the Level 5 felony of failure to register with a prior conviction. Police say Lowhorn was located in Henry County on Saturday, while Thomas was found by the Fugitive Apprehension Street Team in Michigan City on Tuesday.
As part of Operation Scare and Beware, all of the offenders were “strongly encouraged not to participate in trick-or-treat.” The Sheriff’s Office reminds parents that they can find the location of registered sex offenders online, so they can decide which homes their kids should avoid this Halloween.
