LaPorte County Police are on the lookout for motorists not wearing a seatbelt. Operation Belt Up continues through Thursday.
Sheriff’s deputies are taking part in overtime patrols with funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, administered by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute. LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office Captain Derek Allen notes that motorists are 12 times more likely to be killed if they are unrestrained.
