A LaPorte man is dead, after a single-vehicle crash near Michigan City Wednesday morning. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office says it happened just before 3:00 a.m. on Hitchcock Street, north of Earl Road.
Deputies believe a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading north on Hitchcock Street, when it drove off the west side of the road, hit a utility pole, and collided with a tree, while continuing to head north. The truck reportedly hit a fence, before coming to a rest on its passenger side.
The driver, Matthew L. Moore, 32, was trapped inside and was pronounced dead at the scene. Toxicology results are pending.
