Pulaski County is hiring an advertising agency to help with its tourism marketing efforts. The county commissioners Monday approved an agreement with Chicago-based Marketing Partnerships International.
Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer explained that the agency would take over the ad buying process, whereas up until now, his office dealt with the individual TV stations, cable companies, websites, and publications directly.
“So instead of my being responsible for negotiating deals with each of those, we would say to these people, ‘This is our budget; do your magic,’” Origer explained. “For this year, there is no fee for us because they have waived the scheduling and planning fee. The money that they make off of this is on commission through the individual networks to whom they sell ad space.”
The idea is that the arrangement would ease Origer’s workload, while also improving the county’s return on investment. He said the plan is to try it for a year and compare results.
