Wanted Elkhart Man Arrested after Loaded Pistol Reportedly Found during LaPorte County Traffic Stop

A wanted Elkhart man was arrested Friday, after LaPorte County Police say they found a loaded pistol during a traffic stop. Sheriff’s deputies say they pulled over a vehicle driven by Jefferey W. Wade, 32, on U.S. 20 near Fail Road, for speeding and a pair of traffic infractions while changing lanes.

Police say Wade was a wanted person by authorities in Elkhart County. When they searched his vehicle, officers reportedly found a loaded 9mm Taurus pistol.

Wade is accused of the Level 4 felony of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He’s expected to be extradited to Elkhart County at a later date.
