Fewer Starke and Pulaski County residents were employed in November than the month before. Starke County’s November unemployment rate was 5.9 percent, while Pulaski County’s was four percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
The estimated number of residents working dropped by 130 in Starke County and 84 in Pulaski County from October to November. Both counties saw a decrease in the number of people in their labor force.
The November unemployment rates are higher than the October rates reported a month ago, but this month’s report shows that the rates actually went down, following revisions to the October numbers. Unemployment rates remain well above pre-pandemic levels, two percentage points higher in Starke County and nearly one percent higher in Pulaski County from November of 2019.
The state as a whole had a non-seasonally adjusted rate of 4.9 percent in November, while the national rate was 6.4 percent.
