Hamlet town employees are getting a three-percent pay raise. The 2021 salary ordinance was approved by the town council Wednesday.
Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts recommended an across-the-board increase, after the state approved the town’s 2021 budget with only one minor cut. “They gave us everything we asked for, except Park,” she told council members. “They decreased Park due to the projected revenues are insufficient to the fund. So they cut it by $151.”
The raises include all appointed employees, as well as elected officials.
Council Member Brian Earnest felt it was time for an increase. “We didn’t do one last year, and we’ve got it in there,” he said. “We got what we asked for, and everybody’s been doing a good job. Things have been running smooth.”
Also as part of the salary ordinance, employees who’ve been with the town for 10 years will now get 15 vacation days.
