Whether kayak launches should be added to the Yellow River in Starke County is the topic of an online survey from the county’s park board. It’s part of the county’s application for a Destination Development Grant from the state.
The project would include multiple access points across the county over the next couple of years. Among other things, the 15-question survey will help county officials gauge the public’s interest and the project’s potential impact.
Improved Yellow River access is one of the goals included in the park board’s 2017 master plan. The board first began seeking funding for the effort in 2017 and got $5,000 from the Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund in 2019 to help start the process.
The survey remains open until December 30.
