The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation is beefing up its protections against sexual harassment and discrimination. A new policy outlines the school corporation’s efforts to comply with Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities.
The policy was recently approved by the school board, at the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin. “It has detailed requirements on how to report, how to investigate, and making determinations, roles for individuals here at school,” she explained. “You have seen that. And we would implement this by approving it tonight and then work with our HR team to develop a checklist and a procedure list for school officials, to make sure that we are following all of those legalities, according to Title IX.”
The language was developed by policy consultant NEOLA, based on federal requirements.
