Winamac Town Council Awards Demolition Bid for Abandoned Grain Elevator

The Town of Winamac has picked a demolition contractor for an abandoned grain elevator near Logan and Jefferson streets. Jackson Demolition Services of Rochester was selected by the town council Tuesday, according to Town Manager Brad Zellers. The company submitted the lowest of eight bids, at a cost of $124,000.

The bids were opened during a special meeting Monday, which was then reconvened Tuesday, after Zellers had a chance to review them. The town officially took ownership of the property last month, with the goal of turning it into a recreational area with a possible splash pad.
