More information on when construction may begin on Common Collabs’ manufacturing facility in Knox is expected in the coming weeks. In the meantime, economic development officials are working to make sure the site will have the proper road access. Common Collabs plans to make cold brew coffee and other packaged beverages at a facility in the Knox Industrial Park off of Division Road.
Starke County Economic Development Foundation Interim Director Lisa Dan told the city council last week that widening Division Road could be expensive, since that would some land to be purchased. As an alternative, Territorial Engineering has developed a plan to extend Prairie Drive to the west of 300 East alongside the lead track. Dan said that would require some adjustments to the facility plans, and a funding source hasn’t been identified.
She said project officials hope to have additional details about construction by mid-February.
