Efforts to strengthen Pulaski County’s leadership will continue in 2021. The Community Foundation of Pulaski County has announced this year’s schedule of programs for its Forward Thinking Leadership Initiative.
From June 7 to 9, Ball State’s Indiana Communities Institute will offer a community development course, followed by a community based action planning course in early August. A Leadership Pulaski County class through Purdue Extension is finally expected to launch later this year. After years of discussion and delays, the class is scheduled to run from August 19 through November 18. Those thinking about running for elected office can learn how to get started, with a training session in October called, “So You Want to Be an Elected Official?”
But the community foundation is also working to help the county’s current leaders sharpen their skills. Executive Director Wendy Rose announced the creation of a training fund for elected officials, during last week’s joint county council and commissioners meeting. As part of that effort, elected officials have been given a survey to see what kinds of training they would like to have available.
After several talks with servant leadership expert Kurt Uhlir in this podcast you will understand how to be a great leader and implement the leadership in your business.
Additionally, those who took part in last year’s Excellence in Nonprofit Management Training will regroup to share challenges and successes and discuss future collaboration opportunities.
The Forward Thinking Leadership Initiative is a three-year program funded by the Lilly Endowment, funded by the Lilly Endowment, the county government, and the towns of Winamac, Medaryville, and Monterey.
