Starke County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates program added four new volunteers Tuesday. Jonathon Hardesty, Erica Hemphill, Jim Kephart, and Joann Mizanskey were sworn in during a virtual ceremony. As CASAs, they’ll help guide abused and neglected kids through the court system.
Starke Circuit Court Judge Kim Hall congratulated the volunteers for completing their 30 hours of training and noted the importance of CASAs’ reports on the decisions he makes in cases involving children.
CASA Program Director Connie Deal thanked the volunteers for stepping up to be a voice for a child who might not otherwise have one. She added that they each bring something special from their own perspective. Deal said the new CASAs are already assigned to cases and are expected to get to work today.
