The Knox School Board will get an update on the school corporation’s building project tonight. A public work session is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the Knox Schools Administrative Office.
Earlier this month, the school board agreed to add almost $258,000 worth of additional work using leftover project money. That includes almost $184,000 to have a company called Plae outfit the new high school weight room with flooring and equipment. Superintendent Dr. William Reichhart said it will consist of 10 weight stations.
“So we can have a PE class of at least 30 working on the weight equipment at any one time, which is usually about the size of a PE class,” he said. “And then, if you look at the picture, the other half of the room is a turf product that kids will be able to stretch out and also do some sprints in there, if they’d like to.”
The school board also approved almost $47,000 to install a new sanitary sewer line to the administration office, almost $15,000 to repaint the ceiling in the existing high school gym, and more than $13,000 to upgrade security systems.
