Oregon-Davis School Corporation to Get Second Opinion on HVAC Project

The Oregon-Davis School Corporation is looking for a second opinion on its HVAC project. Last year, the school board agreed to issue $6 million in bonds.  But the amount of work that guaranteed savings provider EMCOR says that will cover is far less than what board members say they were told by the previous school superintendent.

Superintendent Bill Bennett says the new school board members have raised questions, and he’s now vetting a couple different companies. He hopes to bring a recommendation to the board’s next meeting on February 15.

Bennett says the project was one of a few topics discussed during a work session last week. He says he’s recommending that the school board move its regular meetings to the fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. If approved, the change will take effect in March. They also revisited the issue of board member pay, but Bennett says board members opted to leave it at $1,000 per year, plus $50 for special meetings.

Those items will be up for formal approval during the board’s February 15 meeting.
