Two Arrested for Alleged Firearms Offenses following LaPorte County Traffic Stop

Two people were arrested for alleged firearms offenses, following a traffic stop in LaPorte County Monday evening. Sheriff’s deputies say they pulled over a passenger vehicle for a license plate violation near the intersection of State Road 39 and U.S. 20.

But it turned out the driver, Damien L. Wilson, 28, of Elkhart, was reportedly wanted by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office for possession of a firearm by a felon. On top of that, deputies say a search of the vehicle turned up a loaded 9mm pistol. Now, a back-seat passenger, Andrew D. Blash, 26, of Michigan City, is accused of being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm.

Both were taken to the LaPorte County Jail. Wilson is expected to be extradited to Elkhart County.
