Pulaski County Unemployment Rate Drops to Pre-Pandemic Levels

Pulaski County’s unemployment rate appears to be back to pre-pandemic levels, while Starke County’s is heading back up. Pulaski County’s January unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, according to the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

That’s actually a tenth of a percent lower than it was in January of 2020 but three-tenths of a percent higher than it was in December. Meanwhile, Starke County’s unemployment rate bounced back up to 5.8, compared to 5.2 percent the month before and five percent during the same period last year.

The state as a whole had a non-seasonally adjusted January unemployment rate of 4.7 percent, while the national rate went up to 6.8 percent. However, the seasonally adjusted rates were lower.
