Three New York State men were arrested after separate traffic stops on the Indiana Toll Road reportedly turned up cocaine and handguns. LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies say Nikia L. Wright, 26, of Buffalo, was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of dealing in cocaine, after officers say they found a significant amount of a white powder substance in the vehicle he was driving.
Then on Saturday morning, police say they arrested Leroy E. Raynor, 40, of Baldwinsville, for allegedly being a serious violent felon in possession of a firearm, after two handguns were reportedly found hidden under the hood of the vehicle he was driving. His passenger, Desmine D. Williams, 30, of Clay, is accused of carrying a handgun without a license.
The sheriff’s deputy who made the initial traffic stop was working the Domestic Highway Enforcement program, an effort aimed at disrupting the flow of drugs and weapons. It’s one of the programs put in place as part of LaPorte County’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area designation.
