Winamac Park Manager to Resign

The Town of Winamac is looking for a new park manager. Dave DeLorenzo is resigning effective March 26, according to a letter read by Town Manager Brad Zellers during last week’s town council meeting. “‘I would like to extend my appreciation to the Town of Winamac for allowing me to work for you for the past six years,'” the letter said. “‘At this time, I would like to submit a three-week notice, due to recent unjust comments.’”

While specific job performance discussions typically take place in closed executive sessions, concerns have occasionally spilled over into public meetings. When council members approved DeLorenzo’s annual reappointment in January, he was also warned that he was “on the hot seat” for the year. DeLorenzo’s attendance at monthly park board meetings has been somewhat intermittent for the past several months.

The town council unanimously accepted his resignation last week and also discussed some updates to the park manager’s job description. Town officials agreed that the expectation to “work efficiently” should be further clarified to “work quickly.” The town is expected to advertise the vacancy in the coming weeks.
