A 17-year-old was arrested, after LaPorte County sheriff’s deputies say he was driving around with a loaded handgun. Police say they stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction at the Go-Lo gas station on East Michigan Boulevard in Michigan City around 8:30 Wednesday night.
A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with an extended 30-round magazine under the driver’s seat and a .40 caliber magazine between the driver’s seat and the center console. The 17-year-old driver is accused of carrying a handgun without a license and was taken to the Juvenile Services Center.
