Applications Now Open for Knox 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Program

The City of Knox is once again offering to pick up half the cost of sidewalk replacement. The Mayor’s Office is now taking requests for the 2021 residential/business sidewalk replacement program.

Here’s how it works: Requests are reviewed by the street superintendent and then bid out by the city. The city will then notify the property owner of the cost, and then the property owner has 14 days to pay their 50-percent to the city before construction begins. The street superintendent then makes a final inspection and approves the payment to the contractor. Requests will be taken from property owners on a first-come, first-served basis until funding runs out.

The Mayor’s Office says the deadline for applications is May 14 at 4:00 p.m. For more information, call the Knox Mayor’s Office at 574-772-4553.
