Openings at the Knox City Police Department appear to be generating little interest. Chief Harold Smith told the board of works Wednesday that an officer has resigned to run his own business, leaving the department shorthanded by two officers.
He said he’s handed out about seven applications, but only two have been turned back in. Applications are being accepted until tomorrow.
Smith also reported that Officer Chuck Leonhardt has completed school resource officer training, making him available to fill in for Officer Travis Schieber while he’s away on Army Reserves duties.
