Organizations planning events designed to attract visitors to Starke County can apply for up to $2,000 from the Starke County Convention and Visitors Commission.
The commission says it has $6,600 available in innkeepers tax revenues to provide grants for events “that promote and encourage conventions, visitors and tourism.” That money can be used for things like advertising, promotional activities, trade shows, special events, and recreation opportunities, but it can’t be used for salaries and operating expenses.
Applications are due May 30, and recipients will be notified by June 30. For more information, email Kathy Norem at knorem.starke@gmail.com. A second round of grants is expected to be announced in the late summer or early fall.
